Meet the Teachers!

janet queen.jpg

Meet Queen Janet, Miss Janet Pratt!! She KNOWS where MUSIC is AT.

Janet Pratt has enjoyed music her whole life. Beginning at the age of 4, Janet has learned to play many instruments, including the piano, ukulele, banjo, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, and viola. She attended University of Northern Colorado where she received her Master's Degree in Special Education and taught public school for nearly 30 years, working and advocating for students with special needs. She has enjoyed accompanying several choirs including the Colorado Morman Chorale and has accompanied many soloists over the years in several different arenas. One of her favorite opportunities came in the summer of 2010 when she served as the primary accompanist for auditions for the Denver Center Theater of Performing Arts and accompanied many Broadway performers. She has thrived playing the electric bass in several areas performing 18-piece bands. Currently, she is honored to serve as a private instructor for children and adults that are learning how to play the piano, guitar, and ukulele. She received training in Music Together and loves what the program offers little people and their families.

Rose Kern has loved music ever since she was able to talk as a baby. Over the years she found music meant a lot to those around her as well as for her. She would hear music and feel the need to dance, make up songs while pretending her mini trampoline was her stage, and imagine herself as her favorite movie character. Participating and competing in local talent shows, Sing Around Nebraska, Honor Choirs, Show choirs, Carnegie Hall, Star Spangled Banner solos & choir at Mets game, annual musicals, regional competitions, recitals, and her own music lessons she grew to appreciate the outlet that music brought to her and with others. She continued to be actively involved with music in her collegiate years graduating from Nebraska Wesleyan with a Bachelor of Arts and then a Master of Arts in Music Therapy from Immaculata University in Immaculata, Pennsylvania.

In the 15 years of teaching lessons Rose has learned that everyone has their own personal connection to music while developing music skills. For Rose piano helped her to decompress after school and tell a story on the ivories. Singing helped Rose to find her own voice. Playing drums helped to coordinate her left and right hands and as an adolescent she found it meant she could be cool like her favorite band. Music assisted her in taking steps out of her comfort zone to challenge herself. During Rose's educative years she committed to training in guitar, voice, piano, and percussion with varying approaches that were enriching and proficient from instructors specific to the instrument, an ensemble and then to a clinically therapy setting. Rose is currently a board-certified music therapist and newly licensed business owner of Reaching Ivy, LLC offering Music Together. Her dream is to reach the Nebraska communities empowering families using music and building on the relationship that individuals have with music in their families. When she is not teaching classes Rose can be found spending time with her family and coming up with different creative projects using art, music, and writing.

                     We are online!
               Music Together Online
                             (MTO)

mto at home.jpg

With Music Together® Online, you’ll have access to the same high-quality music and movement curriculum loved by millions of families and teachers around the world—from home!

Like all our classes, Music Together Online is designed to teach the way young children learn: through play. During each online music class, Music Together teachers from your local center will lead music activities for the whole family to sing, play, and jam along to and show you how to make everyday items like dish towels, pots, and stuffies into musical props. Even though your teacher is on the screen, each class has been designed as an active music-making experience for little ones and their grownups.

All classes will use the award-winning songs from the Bongos Song Collection. When you enroll, you will receive a code to access your music and digital songbook through our award-winning Hello Everybody app. At many centers, you’ll also receive an invitation to an online community exclusively for enrolled parents, with bonus at-home activities and inspiration to keep the music-making going throughout the week.

Classes are appropriate for children under 5, but the entire family is welcome (and encouraged!) to participate in the musical fun.

                      program Music Together Online:

PRESCHOOL PARENT

I'm so excited for how well my child did in class today with Miss Janet! We have been talking about getting ready for school and learning to participate in class, and that seemed to stick.

-Music Together Parent, Omaha, NE

TODDLER PARENT
"Rose does a great job. My children love the live music classes and ask to re-watch the class recordings. They keep asking to watch Miss Rose over and over again."

-Music Together Parents, Gering, NE & Omaha, NE

PARENT OF MULTIPLES

"My three kids love the hello everybody song, like to bang on the drum, and play the xylophone. It helps regulate them. They get a lot out of it routine-wise. It helps for them to get energy out. Their favorite music class is Music Together. This music class has instruments and dancing around. They love dancing and singing at home, but it gets boring without the instruments at other places."
-Music Together Parent, Omaha, NE

THE MORE THE MERRIER
"My babysitter did a Con Español class with my child and he seemed more engaged and loved it"
Music Together Parent, West Chester, PA

SIMPLE FUN for the FAMILY

My child has really enjoyed music class and I've appreciated the many fun ideas for musical games.  Rose's enjoyment and enthusiasm in doing music with the kids manage to come through even over distance and Zoom. :)
-Rhythm Kids in Music Together, Parent, Lincoln, NE

NO FORMALITY REQUIRED:
As a family, we can drop all pretense of being better than we are and we can have fun with music.
-Rhythm Kids in Music Together, Parent of 6, South Africa

What You Experience in Our Semester Class (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer):

Fully trained, registered Music Together® teachers lead groups of six to twelve children aged zero to five and their parents or caregivers (nannies, babysitters, grandparents, or relatives) in forty-five minutes of music and movement experiences.  Each class offers a dozen songs and rhythmic rhymes, including finger-plays, small- and large-movement activities, and instrument play.  Children and their adults have opportunities to create and improvise making up new words to songs, offering movement ideas, making silly sounds, and sharing musical ideas from the family’s play at home.  The relaxed, playful, non-performance-oriented classroom setting respects and supports the unique learning styles, developmental levels, and temperaments of all participants, creating a strong sense of community.

During our semester weekly classes enrolled families receive a CD and can download the collection of music, along with an illustrated songbook that’s filled with music-making ideas for spontaneous music play beyond the weekly classes.  There are 9 different song collections and 3 summer compilations, for a total of 3 years of non-repeating curriculum.  For more information visit:
